Tour de Essex - 7K Trail Run

9 AM - Saturday, October 19, 2019

Essex Park, Rochester, MN

The only rain in a 6 day period fell right during the Tour de Essex trail run on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Despite the slick conditions on the downhills, the runners successfully navigated the the rolling terrain of the 7.4 K course in very comfortable running conditions of 51 degrees and an 8 mph west wind. A large washed out, rough section of trail caused by recent heavy rains added another twist to the run.

Noah Billings scampered across the finish line in first running at an 8:01 mile pace. Lonny Olson-Williams (8:11 min/mile) and Randy Shelerud (8:20 mile pace) placed 2nd and 3rd.

Finishing first among women and 4th overall was Kris Nelson cranking out 8:54 minute miles. The next women following Kris over the line were Sabrena Resman (10:28 min/mile) and Beth Kangas (12:21/mile).

Congratulations to all of the runners who conquered greasy conditions on the challenging hills of the Tour de Essex.

Experience the rolling hills of the Essex Park trails at the Tour de Essex.  Enjoy the trails used for hiking, running, dog walking, and cross country skiing.  These trails are expertly maintained throughout the year by volunteers of the Rochester Active Sports Club (RASC).

The approximately 7K trail run will start on the Essex Park entrance road and then head onto the trails.  Running surfaces on the race course are mainly grass and dirt with short sections of gravel and asphalt.

This is a low key, low frills race.  No race mementos (e.g. shirts) or awards will be provided.  Water stops will be on the course.  Runners will be timed with results published on the Rochester Track Club and Rochester Active Sports Club web sites.

The entry fee is a very reasonable $10.00 (that's right - only $10!) for online registration through Thursday, October 18.  The entry fee for race day registration will be $15.  All entry fees from the race will be put towards trail maintenance expenses.

Race day registration will begin at 8 AM at the Essex Park red barn.

The race starts at 9 AM.
