RASC Grooming 2007/2008 Ski Season
RASC Volunteer Ski Trail Grooming started this season on December 1, 2007 and concluded on March 16, 2008. This year was the best season in many years with good snow cover for greater than 100 days. During that time, a team of 7 volunteer groomers (Dave Greymont, Brennan Kelly, John Resman, Jeff Robertson, Greg Rowley, Bruce Walk, and Henry Walker) performed trail grooming on approximately 10km of trails at the

Luminary Ski - Sunday 27th January
About 60 skiers showed up for the first Luminary Ski night on the Quarry Hill trail. Many thanks to Henry Walker and Jeff Robertson for setting out all the candles and to Dave Greymont for setting up all the cookies, hot cider and hot chocholate (and for the photos from that evening). Temps were in the low 30s / high 20s, making for a very enjoyable evening for skiing.

Eastwood Ski Race - Sunday 20th, 1:30 pm
About 10 hardy skiers turned out for the short notice race in Eastwood on Sunday. Temps were around 0F and the course was wind blown and slow, but the bright sunshine and lack of wind made for a good race. Scott Ellerton (see on left) from Albert Lea took top honors with a time of 53'55" for the 18 km course. Many thanks to Dave Greymont for the photos. More photos of the race can be found here
Skate Ski Clinic – Sunday Dec 30th
We held our first masters ski clinic on Sunday December 30th at Quarry Hill park. This clinic focused on skate skiing and was intended for master skiers who are beginning to skate ski. The 2-hour session focused on basic techniques such as free skate, double poling and V1.
