Quarry Hill Christmas Day ski

12/24/07

By Dave Greymont

Work off those extra Christmas cookie calories and join us for a ski at Quarry Hill Christmas Day - night (Tuesday 12/25/07). Meet at the Quarry Hill Nature Center parking lot at about 7:20 PM and be ready to ski at 7:30 PM.  Dave Greymont plans to classic ski and can lead other skiers who are unfamiliar with the Quarry Hill trail system.  We will do loops out an back towards the nature center and when you feel you've gone far enough, you can easily drop out.  Skate skiers may take a different trail through the park. Dave skied the trails today and they were just groomed.  Most of the trail was excellent but with a few icy patches.  Unfortunately with the warm weather last week and then the hard freeze, we lost the classic track.

There's a full moon, but it may be overcast or snowing Tuesday night.  Bring a headlamp if you have one but ideally we'll ski by moonlight. This is not a commitment, but just so we get a feel for the number of skiers, please email Dave if you might join us and let him know if you will classic ski, or skate ski. You can contact Dave at birked@charter.net

Would you bike on roads with rumble strips (e.g. CR 8)?
